Madi Update 6

Madi Updates

Wow, so much to report!!! Madi has been an absolute Rock Star in so many ways over the last week! Her speech continues to improve, and she’s nailed all 3 three procedures…chemo port, G-tube, and lumbar puncture!

Every day continues to be her best day yet! She walked the hallways, assisted, but it’s definitely getting her ready to do the stairs again at CCHS. She completed her swallow study and aced it so she’s one step closer to her Chic Fil A! She’s even kicked butt in OT, getting her one step closer to texting!

Madi had a bit of pain the past few days from the 3 procedures, but she’s not letting that stop her… yesterday she completed her 1st full day of rehab!!! She had speech, PT, and OT, and of course, she kicked butt.

We are happy to report she was moved to a new room and is back to having a window again which she is very happy about. Her speech has improved so much in a few days, and she can’t wait to be able to call her friends once she feels more like herself. Every day she tells Dawn and Kyle she wants to go home, and they reassure her she will. She misses playing piano, violin, going to school, and seeing her friends.

Well, no more missing that piano because today during OT, Madi put her fingers on those keys and played away!!! Madi was able to use her right hand and play Nuvole Bianche! The room was a sobbing mess with the happiest of tears that she was not only able to remember how to play, but to actually be able to phsyically play! It was definitely ‘music to their ears’!

Madi was also able to FaceTime with Callum, Aria, and her grandmother yesterday. They were soooo excited to talk to her, see her smile, and laugh together. She also got to see Luna 🐶

During the call, Kyle was talking to Aria, Callum was in the background being silly with his grandmother, and Dawn was next to Madi holding her hand. Madi closed her eyes, and a few seconds later, she said, ‘I feel like I am home right now’. Madi just misses everyone so much!

Her radiation start date was pushed back to the 16th due to something with the proton radiation machine. Everything happens for a reason, and I believe this is God’s way of giving Madi a few extra days of therapy to get even stronger before she starts her treatments. This will give her a full week to continue to heal, build her strength up, and kick butt in rehab prior to starting the treatments!

Dawn still continues to read Madi her texts and all the messages on Madi’s Angels, so PLEASE keep sending them! These texts are SO important for Madi’s spirits. She can not believe how many people are praying for her, and it means the world to her!

Thank you all for your continued prayers, well wishes, donations, attending the dine to donate events, and all the other ways this family feels your love…they just don’t know how they would do it without you all!!!

Madi Update 5

Madi Updates

Today I come to you screaming the good news…Madi had an MRI of her spine yesterday and IT DID NOT SPREAD TO HER SPINE!!! This is the best news!!!

More good news…Madi had been having some challenges with dexterity when trying to point on the tablet or the chart, but yesterday she was actually able to type! They’ve even gotten a nod for yes and a shaking side to side for no! The good Lord is working his miracles!

Things are continuing to move along fast since arriving at CHOP. Madi was fitted for her proton radiation mask yesterday for her chemo and radiation. The start date has been moved back a day and will start on Jan 10th. This Tuesday she will be getting her chemo port as well as a tube put in which will replace her feeding tube.

They are still waiting on the results of which of the 4 types of tumors we are dealing with. This will decide the exact course of treatment. In the meantime Madi continues her sass and her joking ways. She had been giving a thumbs up for yes and squeezes your hand for no…however in true Madi fashion, she’s started going in circles with her thumb to get some smiles out of Dawn and Kyle too! Thankfully now, she’s now nodding yes and shaking her head for no! 😂

Please continue to pray for Madi everyday. Your prayers are working and they are so appreciative of all of you!

Madi Update 4

Madi Updates

So many of you have been messaging asking… Madi was transferred to CHOP earlier today. It has been a very overwhelming day but they are settling in. As of now chemo and radiation are still set to start Jan 9th. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support! Our girl is ready to kick cancers ass!

Madi Update 3

Madi Updates

Madi has been having some speech delays. Speech therapy has been in to see her and work with her. She has been responding well. She has been raising eyebrows, blinking once for yes, twice for no, giving thumbs ups and maybe even ‘another finger’ about having to go through all this. Keep those prayers coming, they’re working!

Also, Dawn is reading Madi her text messages which is helping to get these reactions from her so please encourage the text messages to be sent to Madi.

Madi Update 2

Madi Updates

This group was created to update everyone on Madi’s progress, offer love and support for one another, and pray her back to health!

Madi continues to be a fighter and get stronger every day. Over the last few days, speech therapy has been there to work with her and help her to be able to commmunicate. Using a tablet, she is able to identify objects, letters, and even points to her pain level. The tablet also allows her to point to communicate what she needs, what she feels, what she wants, etc. On Wednesday, Madi pointed to wanting socks, so Dawn looked a little puzzled but put her socks on anyway. In true Madi fashion, she got up the strength to pull her sock back off and chuck it on the floor like get these things off of me! Dawn and Kyle had a sweet chuckle and a moment of amazement to see her get up the strength to do that because they both know Madi hates having socks on!

Madi was having some hand and eye movements that were a little concerning, so a rapid MRI was done the night of the 20th. The MRI came back stable. At this point, we are impatiently waiting for the fluid and swelling to go down and the bruising to heal to have Madi regain her speech.

Madi will be transferred to CHOP on 12/26. She will continue speech therapy and will start occupational and physical therapy to help get Madi strong before she starts radiation with a tentative date of Jan 9th. Madi will also be having a lumbar puncture and a procedure to place her chemo port.

In the meantime, we are still waiting for the pathology results to tell us which of the four types of medulloblastoma it is. The four types are WNT, Sonic the Hedgehog, Type 3, and Type 4. The most favorable is the WNT. Type 3 being the least favorable.

Dawn also continues to read and show Madi text messages and videos that are being sent to her phone. These are helping tremendously to get Madi to respond so please send away!!!

The outpouring of support has been absolutely amazing and we are so thankful for all of you! They asked to include a special thank you for all the prayers, texts, video messages, cards, etc. that have been sent, and while they may not be able to respond to everyone, they do appreciate and read every single one to Madi!

Madi Update 1

Madi Updates

This group was created to update everyone on Madi’s progress, offer love and support for one another, and pray her back to health!

As most of you know, Madi had an MRI on 12/14 searching for a cause for her headaches she’d been having since August. That same day, she was unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumor, and things have moved extremely fast from there. Madi was sent to LV Reilly Children’s Hospital, where she underwent a 5 hour surgery to remove the tumor on 12/15. Madi had some challenges coming out of surgery with waking up. They ordered a CAT scan to check for bleeding or any other complications. The CAT scan showed some minor bleeding, which is normal, but otherwise, all was ok. A post-op MRI also confirmed the surgeon was able to completely remove the tumor, which is believed to be a medulloblastoma. Madi is still not fully awake and communicating. However, she is now squeezing hands, wiggling toes, gives the occasional thumbs up and a few words of sass here and there! Once recovered, Madi will continue her road to recovery at CHOP with the best team of oncologists. We ask you all to continue to pray for Madi and her health, her family who is struggling to process the last 4 days and the team of doctors and nurses who are, and will care for Madi throughout her journey! On behalf of the Bodor family, thank you all from the bottom of their hearts for your prayers, kind words, and support!
